How It Works

  1. Step 1

    Add the PDF

Choose one or more PDFs, or drop them on a computer. The files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded.

  2. Step 2

    Pick a preset

Recommended is already selected. High compression favors a smaller file. Low compression favors sharper photos.

  3. Step 3

    Download and compare

The new size is measured from the file. Download it, or keep the original if the file got larger.

Why Choose this tool?

  • On this device

The PDF stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to EduTips, and we do not keep a copy.

  • Honest sizes

You see the original size, the new size, and the real change. If a file does not shrink, the page says so.

  • Three presets

Recommended is selected for you. High compression makes photos smaller. Low compression keeps them sharper.

When to Use a PDF Compressor

  • A form with a file size limit

Shrink a scanned application PDF before the form rejects it for being too large.

  • A photo PDF that is too big to email

Scanned and photo pages are where the file usually gets smaller.

  • Several PDFs, one at a time

Add up to five PDFs. Each one is compressed on its own, and you download each result yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The file stays on your device. Choosing it, compressing it, and downloading it all run in the browser.

Will every PDF get smaller?

Scanned and photo PDFs shrink. Text-only PDFs often stay about the same size. If the file grows, you can download the result or keep the original.

What do the three presets do?

Recommended balances size and readability. High compression aims for the smallest file, and photos or scans may look softer. Low compression keeps photos sharper, so the file may shrink less. None of them promise a percentage before you compress.

Can I compress more than one PDF?

Yes. Add up to five PDFs, 20 MB and 30 pages each. They run one at a time. A file that fails does not remove the ones that finished. Download each file on its own.

What if the PDF is password-protected?

This tool cannot open a password-protected PDF. Remove the password, then compress the file.
