Frequently Asked Questions

How are marks split across Semester 3, Project/Practical, and Semester 4?

Under the WBCHSE Class XII semester system, project-based subjects (such as Bengali, English, Mathematics, History, Accountancy) carry 40 marks in Semester 3 (MCQ), 20 marks in Project, and 40 marks in Semester 4 (Descriptive) for a total of 100. Practical-based subjects (such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Computer Science) carry 35 marks in Semester 3 (MCQ), 30 marks in Practical, and 35 marks in Semester 4 (Descriptive) for a total of 100.

How is the WBCHSE HS percentage calculated?

The grand total is calculated on the Best 5 subjects out of 500. Both First Language and Second Language are compulsory, and the highest three out of your four elective subjects (three compulsory electives plus one optional subject) are counted. Percentage is (Best 5 Total ÷ 500) × 100.

What is the minimum passing mark in Semester 4 theory?

WBCHSE requires at least 30% independently in theory and project/practical. In Semester 4 theory, that means at least 12 out of 40 for project-based subjects and at least 11 out of 35 for practical-based subjects.

How does the Optional (6th) subject work?

The optional subject is not a sixth equal-weight subject. It is included in your 500-mark aggregate only if its total beats one of your three compulsory electives. If you leave it blank, your three compulsory electives are counted.

What if my target percentage is impossible to reach?

If the remaining required marks exceed the full marks available in Semester 4, the calculator clearly tells you the target is out of reach and displays the highest percentage you can still achieve with full marks in Semester 4.

Are my marks uploaded or saved anywhere?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded to EduTips servers.
